By late 2013 leaders had to admit that attendance was stalling as the number of people
had outgrown the facility, and the decision was made to experiment with two worship services
through January- April 2014. Yet, the lack of parking and one entrance/exit parking lot only
created a bottleneck effect between services. While the attendance and giving increased it was
not solving the challenge. On April 13, 2014 the Church board voted to return to a single
service and to continue working on an alternative solution for increasing church membership
and attendance.
On May 12, 2014 the London Church Board moved to action to develop a church plant in West
London by September 2014 with a recommendation to take a portion of members residing in
the west part of London and prepare to offer worship services in a second location in West
London. A church “transplant” was initiated. For the remaining of the year the plant was to
function as an extension of the mother church, a second campus of the sending church.
Pastor Alex Golovenko searched available facilities and on July 14 2014 a report was brought to
the Board about the availability of the Mt. Zion United church at a cost of $150 per Sabbath. A
goal was set to start meeting in October, and to organize the core group in two months.
The group was formed August 30, 2014 with about 35 people.
On September 8, 2014 the London Church Board approved plans to start worship services and
sent off 4 out of 8 elders to organize the second campus.
For our worship space we rented from a Sunday keeping church. Our first rental
accommodation was the Mt. Zion United Church and we started meeting for worship at 471
Ridgewood Crescent. The first gathering took place on October 4, 2014 and the first sermon
was preached by Elder Mike Keim. The very next Sabbath October 11 the Church Plant
celebrated its first Communion with 32 participants.
October 25-November 1 the West Group conducted the first Evangelistic series with Pastor
James Rooney “Hope for a Crazy World”.
The inaugural Sabbath was designated for January 2015 and on January 10 with Conference
Director Eustace Williams 29 members signed the covenantal agreement as charter members.
Elections were held and by February elders, deacons, and other departments were functional.
By the spring of 2015 the West Group was recognized by the conference and new leaders
emerged. George Perez became the Group leader, Angelina Polihronova took responsibility as
Administrative coordinator, sorting out schedules, correspondence, and organizing details of
weekly worship, and Maria Carcamo took care of finances, collection and remittance to the
London South Church treasury.
